Hi, I’m Jane.
I write about books, coffee, travel and the small moments that make up everyday life. I live in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where my home is slowly turning into a small jungle of plants and stacks of books.
Maisha Kuishi is my corner of the internet where I document life as I experience it. Sometimes that looks like a travel story from a quiet place in Tanzania. Other times, it is a reflection inspired by a book, a cup of coffee, or a moment that made me pause and pay attention.
I believe there is meaning in ordinary days if we slow down enough to notice them.

Alongside this blog, I write a weekly book review column for The Citizen, where I reflect on stories that move me and the ideas they leave behind.
Professionally, I work in communications and public engagement within the civic space. My work focuses on strengthening citizen voice and promoting open and responsive governance across East Africa.
When I’m not writing or working, you will likely find me reading, planning my next trip, or making coffee.
If you enjoy books, thoughtful travel, slow moments, and reflections on life, you will probably feel at home here.
Welcome to Maisha Kuishi 🙂
