Okay. I’m a bit conflicted with one. There are so many parts that I love. And some of them were like I don’t know. For example, Celia was annoying. But she loved Evelyn deeply, and I loved that about her (as I said, I’m conflicted 🤣)
Of all the seven husbands, my favourite was Harry! My goodness, he was a great human being and then some. I loved what he had with Evelyn. He made life easy. I wanted more for him than he was given in the book.
Overall, I think this is a well-written book. Even though, in some parts, I felt like the author tried too much.
But in all honesty, the author did create a great character out of Evelyn Hugo. She lived her life as real as possible. She made lots of mistakes, but that is the point.
She had lots of secrets. We all make mistakes and have a lot of secrets. Nobody is all good, and nobody is all bad. We are just human beings who are trying their best to live.
My favourite quote from the book:
“People think that intimacy is about sex. But intimacy is about truth. When you realize you can tell someone your truth when you can show yourself to them when you stand in front of them bare, and their response is ‘you’re safe with me- that’s intimacy.” ✨️💛
This quote spoke to me on a deeper level. I feel like what I want in my life is to feel safe with someone. To be accepted and loved the way I am. And to love and accept another person the way they are. That is what intimacy is to me.
Would I recommend it? Yes. I would recommend it. There are so many things to learn from Evelyn. Things like going for what you want. And giving your best in everything that you do.
There is so much to this book. There could have been more.😆
So for all these reasons, this is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book for me!
Happy reading,
Jane 🙂
