I have mixed emotions about this book! It made my blood boil. It made me laugh. It made me sad.
This is a well-written book about friendship, marriage, grief, and womanhood. It is a sad book, but also very fast-paced. I woke up last night just to finish it because I couldn’t help myself!

I loved the friendship between the three generations of women. Friendship is a beautiful thing, but even important friendships cannot last forever.
I really loved Uju’s brothers. They were so sweet. They understood that just because one is married does not mean they should tolerate abuse.
The violence in this book is horrifying. It is not an easy book to read. It is sad that a person could be so violent. At some point, it felt like it was impossible for a human being to be that violent.
But the ending… what the heck was that?

And Akin was such a sweetheart. I loved how encouraging he was to Uju. Their friendship was a breathe of fresh air. I adored them
Here are some of my favorites’ quotes from the book:
People will always talk. It is your choice whether to listen or not. I don’t listen because I don’t care
When a young man lacks money, he complains that his wife’s manners are not good.
The mirror has a way of revealing one’s true self.
Sometimes the life’s stress and pressure from this society can make someone forget about love. Love is for those who have finished eating.
I feared my daughters would grow up feeling they were inadequate, that they would desperately seek the love their father had failed to give them.
Live. Be happy.

I loved everything about it. It is an easy 5* book for me. I would recommend for both men and women. It is a powerful and moving story.
Happy reading!
